The Telltale Aura
The aura is an elusive thing.  Parapsychologists believe it to be an extension of the lifeforce, while the more mystical sorts believe it to be something far deeper and more significant than that.  Among the varied supernaturals in the World of Darkness, there exist powers which enable the wielder to perceive the aura and reap its secrets.  Such powers include (but are not limited to) the following:

Aura Perception (Auspex 2) -- Vampire: The Masquerade
    Aura Absorption
(Mytherceria 3) -- Vampire: The Masquerade
    Sight from Beyond
(Rank 2 Theurge Gift) -- Werewolf: The Apocalypse
Any number of Spells or Procedures involving [Spirit 1 / Dimensional Science 1]
-- Mage: The Ascension
    Lifesight
(characteristic of all wraiths and spectres) -- Wraith: The Oblivion
    World Sight
(Spirit Link 1, three or more successes) -- Changeling: The Dreaming
    Illuminate
(Innocence 2) -- Hunter: The Reckoning
    Lamp of Faith
(Lore of the Celestials 1) -- Demon: The Fallen*
    Read Emotion
(Lore of Longing 1) -- Demon: The Fallen*
*Lamp of Faith can discern a subject's supernatural nature, but not her emotion; All auras appear white to dark blue, depending on the subject's Faith or supernatural power.  Read Emotion perceives the color of emotionally-tinted auras, but not any signs of supernatural nature.

The following examples are derived from the aura list from Vampire: The Masquerade, which to date is the most complete aura list in the World of Darkness...though some indications have been altered or omitted for the sake of visibility or simplicity.  I myself have created certain aura aspects to bring the list to completion.
